RESIDENTIAL RE-MODEL … Hard Work … but do the ends justify the means!

BRINGING A 1950s ORIGINAL RIGHT UP-TO-SPEED

On occasion we are asked to re-model slightly older properties, homes that are located in Vacation Rental Areas that have seen quite a number of tourism years … homes that still boast Pink Flamingo Artwork and Emerald Green Carpets, (you know what we mean!).

We have recently had the opportunity to re-model a much older property in Downtown Orlando.

This home was in a stunning location, it was largely original … but time had taken it’s toll. So the location was great but the home was functionally obsolete, the kitchen was tiny and sat in a small room which was blocked off from the rest of the home. The house had two small bathrooms with original hardware and plumbing … these needed to be ripped out.

The house did however have a strange extension with a multi-level ceiling, one part being wood panel with another taller area hosting an office-type dropped ceiling. This extension was separated from the main body of the home by one of the original outside walls.

After several visits to the home and a number of penciled sketches, we employed the services of an architect to bring our ideas to life.

You can see from the plans that we added a third Jack n’ Jill bathroom that services the third bedroom and also has access for the new lounge area that had been created at the back of the home.

We knocked down an original outside supporting wall to break into that awkward original extension. By knocking down the exterior wall, this opened up the whole home. We decided to house the new kitchen between the original family room and the new large lounge area. This has given the home such an open floor-plan, it feels huge, modern and contemporary.

CONCLUSION

This type of project is not to be taken lightly, it’s not exactly the same as the Property Shows that we see on TV. This renovation was months in the making, dealing with Architects, Planners and General Contractors “can be very Stressfull!” Hopefully you will agree that the home is now ultra-functional and shows just beautifully. “We are all very proud of just how great it worked out” … it’s in the heart of a very desirable area which is something that is not easy to achieve with a new build.

At the end of the day … “It’s been Hard Work and “Yes, The Ends do Justify the Means!”
